How the planner works

Google Ads budgets come down to three numbers: how many results you want, how many clicks it takes to get one, and what each click costs. The planner uses this formula:

Clicks needed = target leads ÷ conversion rate
Monthly budget = clicks needed × cost per click
Cost per lead = monthly budget ÷ target leads

For example, 40 leads at a 4% conversion rate needs 1,000 clicks. At $5 a click that is a $5,000 monthly budget and a $125 cost per lead. If one in four leads becomes a $2,000 customer, that budget brings in $20,000, a 4x return on ad spend.

Common questions

How much should I spend on Google Ads per month?

Work backwards from the number of leads or sales you need. Divide your target by your landing page conversion rate to get the clicks you need, then multiply by your cost per click. That is exactly what this planner does. Most accounts also need enough budget for Google's automated bidding to learn, which in our experience means aiming for at least 30 conversions a month per campaign.

Where do the default CPC and conversion rate numbers come from?

They are Paid Media Guys planning ranges for Google Search, not guarantees. Your real numbers depend on your keywords, location, landing page and competition, so replace them with figures from your own account whenever you have them.

Does this work for Google Ads in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?

Yes. The maths is the same in any market. What changes is the CPC and conversion rate, so enter the numbers from your own campaigns or ask us to benchmark them for your market. Plan for seasonal peaks such as Ramadan and White Friday, when competition for clicks usually rises.

Why is the chart a straight line?

The projection assumes your CPC and conversion rate stay the same as you spend more. Real accounts usually get more expensive per lead as they scale, because you move into less targeted keywords. Treat anything well above your target as optimistic.
