Can AI tools read your site?

Your robots.txt allows AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended.
Your key pages show their full text without JavaScript (server-rendered or static HTML).

Do machines understand who you are?

Your site has Organization schema with your name, logo and links to your official profiles.
Your About page clearly says what you do, who you serve and where you operate.

Is your content easy to quote?

Your main pages answer the buyer's question directly in the first paragraph.
You publish original data, benchmarks or case studies with real numbers.
Each main service or product has its own page, not one page that lists everything.

What do other sites say about you?

You're listed on review or directory sites for your category (Clutch, G2, Capterra, Google Business Profile) with recent reviews.
You appear in 'best X in Y' or comparison articles published by other sites.
People mention your brand on Reddit, Quora, LinkedIn or industry forums.
Your company details (name, location, what you do) match across LinkedIn, Crunchbase and directories.

Are you tracking it?

In the last 3 months you've checked what ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI Overviews say about your brand.

What is AI visibility?

AI visibility is how often, and how accurately, AI assistants mention your brand when people ask about your category. Tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews build their answers from pages they can read and from what other sites say about you. If they can't read your site, or nobody else mentions you, they recommend someone else.

How the score works

The 12 questions cover the five things that decide whether AI tools mention you:

  • whether they can read your site at all
  • whether they understand who you are
  • whether your content is easy to quote
  • what other sites say about you
  • whether you're tracking it

Off-site signals such as directory reviews and "best of" articles carry the most weight, because they are what AI answers cite most often. "Yes" earns full points, "Partly" earns half. The score is a self-assessment, so it's only as accurate as your answers.
